Client Relationship Building Oktoberfest

There was no passport required when James Halliday Events brought a piece of Germany to the heart of Sydney for major general insurer Allianz and its key brands’ annual client relationship building event.

We created a traditional Bavarian beer hall for a unique celebration that enabled Allianz, Hunter and Club Marine to strengthen business relationships and reinforce their market leadership in a relaxed, entertaining setting.

THE CHALLENGE

The client relationship building day is the most important customer networking event on the Allianz group of companies’ calendar. We had to create the perfect environment to maximise brand and relationship building opportunities for our client and deliver an unforgettable experience for more than 300 of its most valued clients and industry partners.

OUR SOLUTION

Reflecting the German heritage of our client’s parent organisation, we turned a waterfront venue into a traditional Bavarian beer hall for an exclusive Oktoberfest-themed lunch. The large space was transformed by long beer hall-style tables; hot and cold food stalls; and wait staff serving imported German Beers while wearing traditional Lederhosen and Dirndl.

Tables were decorated with Bavarian flags and souvenir beer steins, while large Bavarian crests on banners flanked the Allianz signage at the head of the room. A traditional ‘Oompah band’ kept guests entertained with toe-tapping, beer drinking folk tunes, with song booklets provided so guests could sing-along. Throughout the lunch, guests were able to participate in wood chopping and slap dancing festivities.

The look, feel and flavour of the Allianz brand was integrated into every aspect of the celebration, from the logo on the beer steins to the use of corporate colours in the theming.

THE RESULT

While guests were raising their glasses, we were raising awareness of the Allianz, Club Marine and Hunter Insurance brands and reinforcing their industry leadership positions among the target audience. The fun-packed Oktoberfest event engaged and entertained guests, enabling our client to foster existing and new business relationships that ultimately result in increased lead generation and sales.

Delivering on the awareness-building goals of the event, guests were fully engaged and experienced the client’s vision and values first-hand, with Allianz-branded take-home souvenir beer steins providing a lasting reminder of a memorable day. Cheers!
