The bright sparks from JH Events took to the streets to promote Philips global partnership with Live Earth in the lead up to the event’s Sydney concert, reaching10,000 consumers in just three hours with a hands-on solution to make a simple switch and reduce energy consumption.

THE CHALLENGE

Get an environmental message out to 10,000 early morning commuters hurrying to work in the heart of Sydney’s CBD? Not a problem! We set an ambitious target: to distribute 10,000 single energy efficient globes to the public in a three hour window - and encourage recipients to sign up for an additional six-pack of energy saving globes under the IPART carbon trading program too.

OUR SOLUTION

Live Earth is about engaging with a worldwide audience to combat global warming with solutions for the climate crisis. Our Live Earth partnership promotion engaged a local audience with a ready-made solution for making a simple switch, for the good of the environment and their energy bill.We took Philips’ sustainability message to the streets with Wynyard Park in Sydney’s CBD the chosen venue. We set up at 5am to target early morning travellers. Friendly staff dressed in Philips-branded ‘hoodie’ sweatshirts covered the main foot traffic areas.

THE RESULT

We not only distributed all 10,000 globes to passers-by - more than one in three people stopped to sign the declaration to receive the additional pack of energy saving globes too.The promotion was not only a success in building awareness of Philips’ commitment to Live Earth and sustainability, it put an actionable energy efficient alternative in people’s hands. It gave individuals a simple, accessible way to reduce their energy consumption, and inspired them to take a simple step to lead a more energy efficient lifestyle.
